Over the next month I'll be participating in a pioneer reenactment trip. The fun began for me last Saturday with a training day! All the adults who will be participating learned how to load, pull, and unload a hand cart, carts that they had made mostly themselves, procuring the wheels and axles from Amish builders to ensure quality and accuracy. They also learned safety measures and a few tricks to help along the journey. There was a great demonstration of songs that will be learned and sang along the trail. A young girl joined her parents in singing Cockles and Mussles to help get everyone in the spirit of things. Everyone then went through some songs. A cooking demonstration using dutch ovens and a small camp burner. The food was delicious and only took about 45 minutes to cook dinner and dessert! After eating everyone joined in a circle to learn some fun games and there was laughter all around. Once everyone had learned the games, they gathered back at the main site and a few special stories were shared of those who had pioneers in their ancestry and were doing this in their honor. All in all it was a fantastic day and

I ran around with a camera as a child but it never occurred to me that photography could be a career. It wasn't until I was in college studying to become a veterinarian that I realized I would much rather be taking pictures and studying photography than anatomy. I shot my first wedding in 2008 and fell in love! I get lost in the magic every time! I branched out to shoot portraits and create fine art images soon after.
